The most recent evidence does not support the claim that wind turbines significantly decrease property values. Studies show that the impact on property values is minimal and often temporary, especially in rural areas.(1)A 2024 study found that homes within view of a wind turbine experienced an average price reduction of only 1.12%, with the effect mostly seen in urban areas and disappearing within ten years of installation. For turbines installed after 2017, the impact on property values is statistically insignificant.(2) Comparitively, fossil fuel plants, particularly natural gas, have a greater negative impact on property values, reducing home prices within two miles of the plant by 4–7%.(1)
