The claim that wind turbines cause epileptic seizures due to shadow flicker is not supported by scientific evidence.(1) Shadow flicker, the phenomenon where rotating wind turbine blades cast moving shadows, is not a significant risk factor for triggering seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.(1)Wind turbines typically operate at frequencies between 0.5 to 1 Hz, which is well below the 3 Hz threshold required to induce seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.(2) Similarly, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection reported that shadow flicker frequencies from wind turbines typically range from 0.3 to 1.0 Hz, also far below the threshold identified by the National Resource Council and the Epilepsy Foundation as a risk for inducing seizures.(3)
