The claim that offshore wind development will harm national security by interfering with U.S. Navy sonar and long-range radar is not supported by evidence. The DOD plays an active role in the offshore wind development process. It collaborates closely with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) during the siting and permitting of wind projects to evaluate potential impacts on military operations, including sonar and radar. This ensures that any potential concerns are identified early and addressed through strategic planning.(1)
