NECEC Executive Vice President Janet Gail Besser to Speak on Mass DPU Grid Modernization Proceedings

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Janet Gail Besser, Executive Vice President of NECEC, the premier voice of businesses building a world-class clean energy hub in the Northeast, will speak at the 13th Annual Comprehensive Conference on Energy in the Northeast on September 22, 2016. Bringing a wealth of policy knowledge and years of experience in the clean energy industry, Besser will provide an in-depth look on the grid modernization proceedings currently underway at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

Presented by Law Seminars International, the conference aims to answer one question: how will the Northeast states adapt to achieve their ambitious goals for the Northeast’s energy future? Policy makers, regulators, industry leaders, and other stakeholders will gather over two days to explore the evolving answers to this question. Besser joins speakers from all aspects of the energy industry, including Larry D. Gasteiger, Esq., Chief of Staff at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and James G. Daly, Vice President, Energy Supply at Eversource Energy. In addition to DPU grid modernization proceedings, topics will include offshore wind development in New England, perspectives on community solar, and key issues facing ISO New England and New York ISO.

Besser leads NECEC's Policy, Government Affairs and Membership strategy and activities. Prior to joining the organization, she served as Vice President of Regulatory Strategy and Policy at National Grid, and previously was Chair of the DPU. Her experience leading NECEC’s grid modernization efforts and tenure as Chair of the DPU will offer attendees an expert perspective on the DPU’s grid modernization proceedings.
