Before stepping into the role of ACT President, Joseph A. Curtatone forged a reputation for being one of the most innovative mayors in the United States as the nine-term Mayor of Somerville, MA. That includes Somerville being named one of only 95 cities in the world to make the CDP Cities A-List for climate planning and action. He also spearheaded a comprehensive net-zero action plan for his city with a strong focus on equity.  During his tenure, Curtatone embraced data-driven decision making, employed systems-based solutions to community issues and was an innovator in healthy city initiatives. He has forged regional coalitions to tackle issues around transportation, housing and COVID-19 pandemic response. He also worked to establish Somerville as a leader in climate technology, recruiting Greentown Labs to the city, where it has been steadily growing since 2013. Thanks to his pursuit of cutting edge industries, Somerville saw its workforce increase by more than 40% during his tenure as the city became the home to billions of dollars of new economic activity. Curtatone also did significant work to reshape the city. In 2014, Somerville opened the first new station in Greater Boston's core light rail transit system in 27 years, and soon it will open six more new stations as part of the first major expansion of that system since the 1980s. In addition, during his time in office Somerville built a network of more than 40 miles of bicycle lanes inside a city of just 4.1 square miles. He is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School, the New England School of Law and Boston College. A father of four, Curtatone also has been a longtime high school and youth sports coach.

Andrea is the Staff Accountant at ACT. She was educated at Boston University and Salem State University, where she received her MBA. Besides accounting, some of her past roles included solar development, organ building, and social work. Andrea is passionate about sustainability, fast transition into a just, clean economy, and zero carbon buildings. She is a member of NEWIEE.

Aaron Frederick joins ACT as the VP of Advancement & Impact, bringing an impressive 25-year track record as a consultant, founder, facilitator, and educator. His extensive experience in collaborating with social entrepreneurs, high-performing teams, family offices, and founders has equipped him with the skills to drive strategic alignment, foster positive culture change, and operationalize visionary plans across sectors.

Aaron excels in translating ambitious ideas into practical realities as a seasoned dialogue and strategy facilitator, campaign fundraiser, and Kolbe Certified Consultant. His passion for leadership and environmental stewardship is exemplified by his accomplishments, such as paddling the Eastern seaboard of the US in a sea kayak and transforming a 26-acre Maine island into the thriving eco-school and leadership development program, Rippleffect, Inc.

His research and practice of regenerative environmental, social, and governance principles across five continents has led to collaboration with federal agencies, global development banks, community-based organizations, and environmental NGOs. As the VP of Advancement & Impact, Aaron leverages his expertise to help the Alliance for Climate Transition facilitate the rapid, just, and equitable climate transition in the Northeast.

Hannah Goetz is the Content Manager at ACT, where she oversees communication strategies to advance ACT's clean energy initiatives. She is a seasoned communications professional with a rich background in developing and executing comprehensive strategies for nonprofit organizations. Hannah comes to ACT from Justice 4 Housing where she served as the Director of Communications, driving outreach efforts aimed at advocating for affordable housing solutions. Prior to Justice 4 Housing, she worked as the Public Affairs Manager at Citizens Energy Corporation where she sharpened her skills in communications, relationship building, and content creation to drive impactful change in the clean energy sector. With expertise in event management, graphic design, video production, and marketing, Hannah is committed to driving positive change in the clean energy and social justice sectors.

Oliwia is the Policy and Regulatory Analyst with ACT's Policy and Government Affairs team. Prior to joining the team, they worked with the Rural Investment to Protect our Environment (RIPE), a D.C. based coalition advancing national policy that invests in conservation practices in rural America, where they developed an extensive policy proposal for collaboration between private and public carbon payment systems for farmers who practice climate-smart agriculture. Oliwia also served for two years with AmeriCorps, where they developed youth urban farming programs at the Southside Community Land Trust and stewarded tree planting activities with the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program. Oliwia holds a Master's Degree of Public Affairs from Brown University and a B.S. in Physics from Lehigh University.

Olivia is the Program Manager for Cleantech Open Northeast, ACT. She has experience working with a variety of environmental organizations, in policy and non-profit groups at both the local and national levels. Olivia holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations-Political Science from Wellesley College. She is originally from midcoast Maine and has a passion for and commitment to climate change mitigation and business sustainability.
